Summary
Promotes quality patient care in the treatment of radiation therapy patients. Responsible for the technical aspect of radiation therapy treatment plans and equipment. Ensure radiation therapy is safe and effective for patients and those administering care. Consult with physicians and other medical personnel on patient treatments, offering advice on the use or dosage of radiation therapies.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES WORK EXPERIENCE:
Five or more years of clinical experience. Experience with Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) preferred.
LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
Licensed in Radiation Therapy Physics or Medical Physics as required by federal, state, and local laws. Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology or the American College of Medical Physics. Member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.
EDUCATION & TRAINING: Master’s or Doctorate in Physics, Health Physics, Radiological Physics, Biophysics or Medical Physics. Technical, clerical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care/area.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required. Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
