Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD)
Job Description
Summary
Promotes quality patient care in the performance of radiation therapy and invasive procedures. Primarily responsible for performing dose calculations in patients' radiation therapy charts and verifying the accuracy of all calculations. Perform manual/computerized planning of external beam therapy. Coordinate treatment simulations and tumor localization, including Computed Tomography, for radiation therapy treatment planning. Create, design and upload plans for external beam blocks, compensating filters, custom shields, wedges, and other beam modifying devices
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Education: Graduate of hospital or college affiliated medical dosimetry school with clinical and classroom curriculum for duration of 1 year. And/or bachelor’s degree in a physical or biological science and registered radiation therapy technologist. With registered radiation therapy technologist or a bachelor’s degree in physical or biological science, 2-3 years of dosimetry experience is required.
Certification : Certified Medical Dosimetrist by the AAMD Licensed: Texas Medical Licensed (TMB)
Technical, clerical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care/area. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required. Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
