Summary
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, maintains all personnel files for active and terminated employees. Assists with various clerical tasks within the department, and answers incoming phone calls and employee and applicant questions, as needed. Familiar with DNV Life Safety requirements and departmental Life Safety Training.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Consistently supports and communicates the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center. Upholds the Standards of Conduct and Corporate Compliance. Follows the St. Joseph Medical Center Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI). People Consistently follows facility guidelines and procedures in performance. Quality: Completes annual education requirements. Promotes of a culture of patient safety which results in the identification and reduction of unsafe practices. Perform all duties with Exceptional Service outcomes. Prioritize, format and complete accurate and timely word processing assignments for the department. Maintain and keep current all department and employee files. Maintain appropriate office supply levels by placing orders when needed. May place orders for department supplies as directed.Answer incoming calls professionally. Take complete and accurate messages. Input data into department computer database accurately and on a timely basis. Assist in creating a keeping accurate employee and vendor files. Assist with new employee orientation by providing necessary forms and answering questions regarding benefits. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and take minutes if needed. Sets an example to all staff in their daily activities. Other assigned duties. Growth: Enhances the patient experience by fostering a positive relationship with customers. Contributes to improving patient satisfaction results. Finance: Promotes stewardship of hospital resources while ensuring quality patient care.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Technical, clerical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. High School Graduate or GED Equivalent, required. One year office, clerical experience, required. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Basic computer knowledge. Technical, clerical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
