Job Description


JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for shift supervision of custodial services at St. Joseph.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consistently supports the hospital's Spirit of Serving Standards, in line with the Mission, Vision, and values of St. Joseph Medical.
  • Follows the St. Joseph Medical Center Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Promotes a culture of safety for patients and Associates through proper identification, proper reporting, documentation and prevention of medical errors in a non-punitive environment.
  • Providing and explaining job descriptions and area assignments. Conduct training on the correct cleaning procedures and the proper way to sue the floor equipment.
  • Make available ongoing associate support through acting as a "sounding board" for ideas and proposed problem resolution. Provide continuing in-service training, assisting associates with project work and support associates with interpersonal issues by interfacing with hospital personnel.
  • Monitor and assist managers in evaluation of employee execution of assigned duties by; conducting daily informal walk-through (visual inspection), inspections of completed project work, observe on the job training, emphasizing and enforcing safety practices.
  • Provides input to manager in disciplinary process of Associates that fail to adhere to SJMC policy and expectations.
  • Conversing in a professional and sensitive manner with key personnel on a regularly scheduled basis. Being responsive to requests and concerns of hospital personnel and provide consistent follow-up.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Supportive of the compliance program set forth by SJMC and demonstrated by:
    • Upholds the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance.
    • Adheres to and helps to enforce all compliance policies relevant to his/her area.
    • Assures timely compliance education as requested by the Compliance Officer and/or through corporate initiatives.
  • Sets an example to all staff in their daily activities.




Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Prefer 1-2  year environmental services or equivalent supervisory experience.

LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: None

EDUCATION & TRAINING:
High School Diploma

SKILLS:
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to read and write in order to receive and distribute instructions.
  • Basis analytical skills necessary to comply with established reporting requirements for tracking performance, evaluations, and training.
